On June 23, 2024, Jia Bingjun, Director of the International Business Department of the China Datang Corporation Ltd., Chairman, and CEO of China Datang Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., met with Marat SUTANGAZIEV, Governor of Almaty Region, Kazakhstan, and his delegation in Beijing. The two parties exchanged views on the cooperation of the new energy base project in Almaty Region.

Li Deyong, Vice president of China Datang Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., and Akhilbekov, Advisor of Governor of Almaty Region signed the Memorandum of Cooperation on the Construction of 1.5GW New Energy Base Project in Almaty Region on behalf of both parties.

Jia Bingjun welcomed the visit of SUTANGAZIEV and his delegation, introduced the overall situation of China Datang and its international business development, and had a detailed understanding of the Almaty Region Government’s energy and power development plan, foreign investment requirements and relevant support policies. He said that Kazakhstan is a major country in Central Asia and the first stop for the westward extension of the “Belt and Road”. He hoped that China Datang would take this project as an opportunity to actively participate in the investment and construction of more energy projects and serve the local economic and social development.

SUTANGAZIEV said that the Almaty Region Government had been committed to accelerating the development and construction of new energy in recent years, expressed appreciation for the comprehensive strength of China Datang, highly recognized the preliminary work of the project, and would actively coordinate relevant functional departments to fully support the early landing of China Datang’s first new energy project in Almaty Region of Kazakhstan.

After the talks, the two parties signed the Memorandum of Cooperation on the Construction of 1.5GW New Energy Base Project in Almaty Region, which further clarified the intention of cooperation and the direction of follow-up work.

The Governor of Alatau city, Governors of Kegen district and  Uygur district, Head of the Alatau Special Economic Zone, the International Business Department of China Datang Corporation, the Investment Development Department of China Datang Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., the General Office and the Central Asia Representative Office attended the meeting.
